‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever was taught shooting and then abandoned it does not belong to us - or has disobeyed.”
عن عقبة بن عامر-رضي الله عنه- مرفوعاً: «مَنْ عُلِّمَ الرَّمْيَ، ثم تَرَكَه، فليس مِنَّا، أو فقد عَصَى».
شرح الحديث :
This Hadīth means that a Muslim who learned shooting by bow or modern weapons, but no longer cares for it, his practice does not belong to the guided practice of Muslims. The narrator was uncertain whether the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said this or said that such a person has committed an act of disobedience.
