military expedition (الْغَزْوُ)

التعريف :
To march towards a hostile enemy. This term was used in reference to the Prophet’s military expeditions in which he took part. An expedition in which he did not take part is called sariyyah or baꜤth.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
Seeking to fight the disbelievers, who are at war with Muslims, in their land with the permission of the Muslim ruler or his deputy.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر :
"Ghazw": seeking the enemy with the intent to fight him. Original meaning: intending and seeking.
