A philosophical school that upholds the teachings and philosophy of Pythagoras and his followers. It started in southern Italy in the sixth century BC, and had profound influence on Aristotelian and platonic philosophy, and later on western philosophy. It is distinguished by relating things to numbers, and phenomena to mathematical values and relations.
