Iblīs (إِبْلِيس)

The father of all the jinn. He was created from raging flames of fire. He has offspring and whoever is an unbeliever of them is called ‘satan’ or ‘jinnee’. His name is derived from the verb ablasa, which means ‘to despair’, because he despaired of ever receiving God’s mercy.
