by implication (التَّعْرِيض)
علوم القرآن أصول الفقه
التعريف :
Words that gives the hearer the intended meaning without stating it.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
Every statement that could be considered a marriage proposal or the like of it.
الشرح المختصر :
"Ta‘reed" (making an indirect or implicit statement) means expressing something with an indirect statement, or saying something that can be interpreted in more than one way while intending a specific meaning. An example is to make a marriage proposal with an indirect statement, such as saying to a woman whose husband has passed away and she is in her mourning period: "I want to get married, and I wish that Allah would make it easy for me to find a righteous woman," or "You are beautiful. Who could find someone like you?"
التعريف اللغوي المختصر :
"Ta‘reed": opposite of "tasreeh" (explicit speech). To speak with "ta‘reed" means to make an indirect or implicit statement to someone or about someone while you intend the direct or explicit meaning.
