Two narrators of equal status, similar age and having similar chains of transmission and learning from the same teachers, such as ꜤĀʾishah and Abu Hurayrah among the prophet’s companions; al-zuhrī and ꜤUmar ibn ꜤAbd al-Ꜥazīz among the TābiꜤīn; Mālik and al-awzāꜤī in the generation succeeding the TābiꜤīn generation.
